Biography:
I view my life in three distinct chapters.
Chapter 1: Born and grew up in Beijing, China. At age of 18, I went to UK to study architecture with a Chinese government scholarship and received B.A. and B.Arch. from Manchester University in U.K. After qualification, I worked for more than 10 years with three renowned architect firms.
Chapter 2: In 1996 we started to live in different cities including Tokyo, Hong Kong and NYC following my husband’s work relocation. Our second son was born with many medical complications and hearing impairment. I chose to be a full-time mother and homemaker and help him to become fully independent.
Chapter 3: In 2008 while living in Hong Kong, I felt a strong yearning to paint, to get in touch with my inner feelings and to be creative again. I bought some art materials, signed myself up to some evening art classes and started learning and working with great enthusiasm…
We now reside in Connecticut USA. My greatest joy living in the suburb is gardening and my latest artworks reflect this. I am represented at NohoM55 Gallery in New York City. I am also a docent giving Mandarin Chinese tours at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.
Statement:
I try not to limit myself with a certain artistic style or language. My artwork starts from my personal response to a situation, a feeling or an environment.
To me, life is a series of experiences: the passion and desire, the hope and humbleness, the dream and reality, the joy and despair, the fear and perseverance. The creative process is an extension of it.
Art is who we are!
